Eagle Scout candidate Keagan Hempel continued his strong tradition of service by leading a project focused on improving the daily function and appearance of a space many veterans call home. His Eagle Scout project involved the remodel and upgrade of the interior counters and kitchen cabinets at Sarpy County VFW Post 9675.

The post’s kitchen is a hub for gatherings, meals, and community events, but over time, the counters and cabinetry had become outdated and worn. Keagan organized and led a team to remove aging components, then install new, functional, and modern replacements that not only improve the space's usability but also bring a fresh, welcoming look.

With a focus on durability and design, the updates now better serve the needs of the veterans, volunteers, and guests who regularly use the facility. From preparing meals during post functions to hosting community events, the improved kitchen space reflects both care and respect for those who gather there.

Keagan’s project highlights the values of Scouting—leadership, craftsmanship, and service to those who have served—leaving a lasting impact on a place filled with history, camaraderie, and continued community connection.
