This summer, eight enthusiastic scouts and five dedicated adult leaders from our troop embarked on an unforgettable adventure at Camp Hohn, nestled along the scenic Lake of the Ozarks. From July 6–12, our week at camp was filled with exploration, skill-building, and good old-fashioned fun in the great outdoors.
Camp Hohn is known for its wide variety of activities that offer something for every scout—whether they’re first-timers just starting out or seasoned adventurers working on advanced skills. Scouts took full advantage of everything the camp had to offer, from earning merit badges and hiking scenic trails to participating in fun and spirited camp games.
Merit Badges Galore
One of the highlights of the week was the opportunity for scouts to earn a total of 25 merit badges! Camp Hohn offers an impressive selection, including both Eagle-required and elective badges. From Environmental Science to Archery, and from Climbing to Sailing, our scouts dove into their interests and emerged with new knowledge, confidence, and skills.
Activities for Everyone
When they weren’t busy at merit badge classes, our scouts enjoyed the many exciting activities offered throughout camp. Camp Hohn keeps the fun going with rowing, black-powder rifle shooting, swimming, fishing, and more. Friendly competitions brought troops together to showcase their creativity and teamwork. This year, our unit especially enjoyed participating in the Dutch Oven Cooking and the coveted Camp Scoutmaster Badge Challenge, where five of our adult leaders earned their tokens!
Memories Made (Rain or Shine!)
Of course, no week at camp is complete without a few rain showers—and this year didn’t disappoint! But a little bit of rain didn’t dampen the spirit of our troop. Campfires, skits, and evening reflections created meaningful memories and strengthened friendships across age groups. Whether it was learning a new skill, singing around the campfire, or enjoying a lakeside sunset, everyone walked away with a smile and stories to share.
We’re incredibly proud of our scouts and grateful to our adult volunteers who made this experience possible. Camp Hohn is most definitely a place where character is built, skills are developed, and lifelong memories are made. Until next year—adventure awaits!
